James Masterton (1872-1950)

James Masterton (1872-1950)

Innkeeper

James Masterton was an innkeeper at Newbridge, near Kirkliston. He was the oldest surviving son of James Masterton and Christina Yule Garlick at the time of his father's death and, presumably, took over the running of the family public house at Newbridge.

Genealogy

James Masterton was the third son of James Masterton and Christina Yule Garlick. James Masterton senior was the eldest son of John Masterton, agricultural labourer, born in Cramond, and Elizabeth Dickson. This places him as part of the large group of Mastertons that orginated in Cramond and Kirkliston. A fuller genealogy of the extended family of James Masterton can be found at this link
