James Masterton (1845-1897)
Jeweller
James Masterton was a jeweller in Queen Street, Edinburgh. He died at the relatively young age of 52, of tuberculosis at George Street, Whithorn, Dumfries, no doubt in an attempt to alleviate his illness with the sea air.
Genealogy
James Masterton was the second son and third child of James Masterton and Elizabeth Cuthbert. They belong to the large family of Mastertons traced back to Abercorn in West Lothian. A fuller genealogy of the extended family of James Masterton can be found at this link
ALL PARTIES having CLAIMS against the late JAMES MASTERTON, who some time carried on Business at No. 5 Queen Street, Edinburgh, and who latterly resided at Whithorn, are requested to lodge the same with the Subscriber within Fourteen Days from this date; and ALL PARTIES INDEBTED to the said JAMES MASTERTON are requested to make payment to the Subscriber within a like period.
