James Adam Masterton (1868-1932)
Assistant keeper, Register of Sasines
James Adam Masterton, assistant keeper at the Register of Sasines in Edinburgh, was born in Clackmannan. It is a comfort to know that at least one Masterton was responsible for the safe-keeping of Scotland's archives and registers, given the role of an earlier Masterton in the catastrophic loss of some of them!
Genealogy
James Adam Masterton was the eldest of four children born to William Masterton, schoolmaster, and Jane Mitchell Innes, who had married in 1867 in Dunfermline, Fife. James Adam Masterton belongs to the large group of Mastertons that originated in the Culross area. Fuller details of his extended family can be found at this link.
