Robert Masterton, goldsmith and jeweller in Edinburgh, committed suicide by hanging, when 35 years old.
Genealogy
Robert Masterton was the eldest of eleven children of Robert Masterton and Eleanor Nicholson who had married in 1845 in Canongate, Edinburgh, Scotland. He married Jessie Pringle in 1869 and had seven children with her. This places him as part of the Masterton family from Cramond for which details can be found at this link.

Yesterday a working jeweller named Masterton, residing at Beaumont Place, Edinburgh, hanged himself in his house with a pair of skipping ropes. He leaves a widow nad seven children.

About midday on Sunday, Robert Masterton (35), jeweller, 12 Beaumont Place, Pleasance, Edinburgh, committed suicide by hanging himself in his house. He was discovered by one of his daughters, who cut the rope by which he was suspended.
