    • Application for Parish Relief, Parish of Glasgow, when taken to Royal Infirmary with Fever.
"I have this day sent to Infirmary a girl - Masterton 3 Springfield Place - with fever. This is the third case out of same family and house - there are two yet unattacked, but if allowed to remain in house I fear will also take it. - the two children - mother is in Infirmary - aged 11 and 17 years are out of employment and have nothing left - you will know what to do in the circumstances. R. Dunsire, District Surgeon, 5 Feb 1863.

"I visited this house on the 6th February 1863 & found Wm & Agnes very ill & was told they were to be removed same day to the Infirmary. I then sent Cab to remove Alex now better, & Eliza unattacked to the F...s Hospital but would not go in. All I could say to them was of no use. I told them it was only for a day or two until the House was properly cleaned, but the girl created a great noise both when I was there also when the Cab was sent. "
